Kamloops Massage Matters is committed to protecting your personal information. As registered massage therapists (RMTs) in British Columbia, we comply with the Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) and follow professional standards set by the College of Massage Therapists of British Columbia (CMTBC) and the Registered Massage Therapists' Association of BC (RMTBC).

We collect only the information necessary to provide you with safe, effective massage therapy care. This may include:

  • Contact information (name, phone number, email address)
  • Health history relevant to your treatment
  • Treatment notes and clinical records
  • Payment and billing information
  • Insurance information (when applicable for direct billing)

How We Use Your Information

Your personal and health information is used solely for: providing massage therapy treatment; communicating about appointments; processing payments and insurance claims; maintaining clinical records as required by law; and improving our services. We do not sell or rent your information to third parties.

Consent

We obtain your consent before collecting, using, or disclosing your personal information. Consent may be given verbally, in writing, or electronically. You may withdraw consent at any time, subject to legal or contractual restrictions. Withdrawing consent may affect our ability to provide you with care.

Disclosure of Information

We may share your information with other health care providers when necessary for your care, with your insurance provider for billing purposes (with your permission), or as required by law. We do not disclose your information for marketing purposes.

Security

We take reasonable steps to protect your personal information from unauthorized access, loss, or misuse. Clinical records are stored securely, and electronic systems are protected with appropriate safeguards.

Retention

We retain your records in accordance with CMTBC requirements and applicable legislation. Records are securely destroyed when retention periods have expired.

  • Request correction of inaccurate information
  • Withdraw consent (subject to legal limitations)
  • Make a complaint to our clinic or to the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of BC
